When assets show the wrong currency on your Portfolio or Transactions page, it's usually due to currency mismatches. This article explains why this happens and outlines the steps to resolve it.

  • Fixing the incorrect currency on the Transactions page does not automatically correct the currency on the Portfolio page if the token was imported via API and if you're using the 'Reported Balance'.

  • This happens because the data displayed on the Portfolio page reflects information provided by the API provider. In such cases, please reach out to our Support team for assistance.

  • This issue does not impact your tax reports as long as the currency is fixed on the Transactions page. For more details, check out our Portfolio Page guide.

Why Incorrect Currency Was Imported?

With thousands of cryptocurrencies and new ones launching daily, many tokens share the same name or ticker symbol. Crypto Tax Calculator (CTC) generally uses the token’s contract address to identify the currency accurately, but not all imported data include this information. For example, exchange CSV files often provide only the name or ticker symbol.

When CTC encounters a ticker symbol without a contract address, it automatically assigns the currency to the highest-ranked token by market cap with that ticker. While this works most of the time, it can cause issues if you’ve traded a lower-ranked token with the same symbol.

How to Fix Incorrect Currency

For example, you imported a CSV that includes PLS transactions. They were imported as iPulse (PLS), but the correct currency is PulseChain (PLS). To fix it:

  1. Go to the Transactions page.

  2. Filter for the currency you want to update. In this example, filter for iPulse (PLS) currency. Then, you can individually select the transactions you want to update or select all by checking the checkbox beside 'Category'.

    Tips:

    • You can increase the number of transactions per page to 250 to edit more transactions in one go.

    • Use the Bulk-Edit feature by clicking ‘Select all transactions that match this filter’. Learn how to bulk-edit.

  3. Click 'Command’ at the bottom of the page.

  4. Select ‘Change currency’.

  5. Select the currency you would like to change. In this example, you want to change iPulse (PLS).

  6. Type in the ticker or the currency name you wish to assign and select the correct one. In this example, you want to change it to PulseChain (PLS).

  7. Review the changes at the top. Click ‘Confirm’ if you wish to proceed.

  8. You’ll get a notification confirming the change with an option to ‘Undo’ if needed. Note that once the box disappears, this action cannot be undone.

  9. The next step is ensuring your new currency has the correct price. Filter for the currency. Bulk-select the transactions again and click ‘Command’ at the bottom of the page.

    Tips:

    • You can increase the number of transactions per page to 250 to edit more transactions in one go.

    • Use the Bulk-Edit feature by clicking ‘Select all transactions that match this filter’. Learn how to bulk-edit.

  10. Search for Look up market price, then select it.

  11. Click Confirm.

  12. The currency price will be updated. You will receive a notification at the bottom left of your page confirming the completed action. Note that once the box disappears, this action cannot be undone.
