Accountants Cancelling a Client’s Subscription
Go to your My Clients page.
Find the client you want to cancel. Click the three dots at the right-hand side and select 'Cancel Subscription'.
After Cancellation/Unsubscribing
After cancellation, you will still have report and paid feature access until the end of your current billing period. You can check and manage your subscription status in your Profile → Manage Subscription.
Once your subscription expires, you will lose access to any paid features, including tax reports. However, if you change your mind, you may renew your subscription before the end date.
FAQ
Q: Why am I still getting payment failed/attempting charge notifications after cancelling my subscription?
Short answer: If your subscription was already renewed before you cancelled (even though the payment failed), the payment system tries to collect payment for that period. Cancelling now will stop future renewals, but not payment attempts for the current unpaid period.
Here's how it works:
When you cancel your subscription, it doesn't end immediately. It stops at the end of your current billing period. This normally lets you keep access until the period ends, but in this case, since the renewal payment failed, you don't have access AND you still have an unpaid balance.
Two scenarios:
Scenario 1: You cancel BEFORE renewal
Subscription period: 1 Jan 2025 – 1 Jan 2026
You cancel: 31 Dec 2025
Result: Subscription ends 1 Jan 2026. No further charges.
Scenario 2: You cancel AFTER renewal (this is why you're seeing payment attempts)
Subscription period: 1 Jan 2025 – 1 Jan 2026
Renewal date: 1 Jan 2026 (subscription automatically renews for 1 Jan 2026 – 1 Jan 2027)
Payment fails on 1 Jan 2026
You cancel: 2 Jan 2026
Result: You're already in the new period (2026-2027), so cancelling stops the next renewal but doesn't cancel the current period. The billing system will continue attempting to collect payment for the unpaid 2026-2027 period.
Why are you still being charged after cancelling the subscription?
Because the billing period started on 1 Jan 2026. Even though payment failed, the subscription period is active and needs to be paid for.
Need to stop payment attempts immediately?
Contact our support team to request immediate cancellation of your current subscription period. This will stop all payment attempts right away.
Q: What happens to my data after cancellation?
Access to paid features and tax reports ends when your billing period expires. Data is retained unless a refund is issued, which may result in deletion.
Q: Can I renew my subscription after cancellation?
Yes, you can renew your subscription any time before the billing period ends.
