When you import an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) wallet into Crypto Tax Calculator (CTC), the platform automatically detects interactions across related chains (e.g., Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Base, etc.) and prompts you to import transactions from these chains, streamlining the import process.
Refer to the Import Wallet and DeFi Transactions guide if you’re unsure how to import your wallet.
Selecting 'Import' will include all chains shown in the pop-up window. Choosing 'Don't Import' will limit the import to only the initial chain (e.g., Ethereum in this example).
The 'Scan EVM chains' Toggle
If you find related chain detection unnecessary or prefer to manage each chain separately, you can disable this feature before importing the wallet by clicking Advanced Options and turning off the toggle. This can be useful for users who frequently deal with chains prone to spam transactions or prefer a more hands-on approach to data management.
Scan EVM Chains After Importing
⚠️ Feature Unavailable since 18 July 2025
This feature has been temporarily disabled while we investigate and resolve performance issues. We currently do not have a confirmed timeframe for its return.
Workaround:
You can still add your wallet for the unimported chains by following the steps above. The “Scan EVM chains” toggle is enabled by default, so wallets on other chains will be automatically scanned.
We’ll update this article as soon as the feature becomes available again. Thank you for your understanding! 😇
If you initially skipped importing related chains but want to add them now, don’t worry! You can still scan EVM chains after importing your wallet by clicking the three dots next to the wallet and selecting 'Scan EVM Chains'.
This will display the detected chains.
You can uncheck any chains you don’t want to import or click 'Add Blockchain' to include chains that weren’t detected.
FAQ
Q: Can I turn off automatic chain detection?
Yes, if you prefer not to import related chains or want to handle each chain separately, disable automatic chain detection by going to Advanced Options before importing and turning off the 'Scan EVM Chains' toggle.
This is helpful if you don't want to import a chain that mostly has spam transactions or prefer a more manual approach.
