How to Edit Transactions

This guide explains how to edit a single transaction in Crypto Tax Calculator (CTC). If you need to edit multiple transactions at once, please check the How to Bulk Edit Transactions guide.

Note: Editing your transaction details can affect your balances and calculations. It’s recommended to consult a tax professional if you’re uncertain about any changes.

How to Edit the Transaction Details

You can edit your transaction details by following these steps:

  1. Click the three vertical dots (kebab menu) on the right side of the transaction.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. The Edit Transactions drawer will appear, allowing you to update any transaction details.

  4. When finished, click Save to apply the changes.

Overview of Editable Transaction Details

Below is the list of transaction details you can edit, along with their descriptions.

Transaction Details

Description

Defines the type of transaction, such as 'Buy', 'Sell', 'Income', etc.

Date

The date and time the transaction was executed, automatically adjusted to your timezone settings. The format should be yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.

From
(Source account)

The wallet or exchange account from which the asset originated.

To
(Destination account)

The wallet or exchange account where the asset was sent to.

Currency

The asset involved in the transaction, whether fiat or crypto (e.g., AUD, BTC, ETH).

Quantity

The amount of assets involved in the transaction.

Price
(Selected Currency)

The price of the asset at the time of the transaction in your local fiat currency. Click the magnifying glass icon to look up the market price.

Value
(Selected Currency)

The total transaction value is automatically calculated as quantity × price. You can also enter the value manually, and CTC will calculate the price for you.

Currency used for price and value

The currency used to express the transaction’s price and value. CTC currently supports USD, ETH, your local currency, and the native token of the blockchain the transaction was on.

Fee currency

The currency used to pay the transaction fee (e.g., ETH for gas fees).

Fee quantity

The amount of the fee paid in the fee currency.

Fee price
(Local Currency)

The price of the fee in your local currency at the time the transaction occurred. Click the magnifying glass icon to look up the market price.

Fee value
(Local Currency)

The total fee value in your local currency, calculated as fee quantity × fee price. You can also enter the value manually, and CTC will calculate the price for you.

Source Blockchain

The blockchain network where the transaction occurred (e.g., Ethereum, Bitcoin). The options available will only include CTC-supported blockchains that you have already imported.

How to Look Up Market Price

To look up the market price for a transaction or fee, click the magnifying glass icon.

How to Change the Direction of the Transaction

To switch the transaction direction between incoming and outgoing (e.g., changing 'send' to 'receive' or 'bridge in' to 'sell'), click the arrow icon. Once the direction is updated, select the appropriate category for the transaction.

How to Assign or Edit the Blockchain

To edit the assigned blockchain, click Advanced, unlock the blockchain field by clicking the padlock icon, and select the desired blockchain.

The options available will only include CTC-supported blockchains that you have already imported. For example, the Ethereum blockchain will only appear as an option if you have imported an Ethereum wallet on the Accounts page.

Editing Shortcuts

You can quickly edit transaction details directly by interacting with specific fields in the transaction details.

Edit Transaction Category

Click the transaction category field and select a new category from the dropdown menu.

To switch the transaction direction between incoming and outgoing (e.g., changing 'send' to 'receive' or 'bridge in' to 'sell'), click the arrow icon. Once the direction is updated, select the appropriate category for the transaction.

Edit Currency, Quantity, Price and Value

Click the quantity or value field in the transaction.

A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to edit the Currency, Quantity, Price (Selected Currency), Value (Selected Currency), and the Currency used for price and value. Click Update to save your changes.

Note: Editing the price will automatically adjust the value, and vice versa.

To look up the market price for a transaction, click the magnifying glass icon.

Edit Fee

Click the fee amount field in the transaction.

A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to edit the Fee currency, Fee quantity, Fee price (Local Currency), and Fee value (Local Currency). Click Update to save your changes.

Note:

  • You can choose any currency you want as the fee currency.

  • Editing the Fee price will automatically adjust the Fee value, and vice versa.

  • To look up the market price of the fee, click the magnifying glass icon.

Edit Source and Destination Accounts

Hover over the source or destination account name and click the pencil icon.

A pop-up window will appear where you can update the From (Source) and/or To (Destination) accounts. Click Update to save the changes.

How to View The Edit History

All changes made to a transaction are logged in the EDIT HISTORY tab for that transaction. You can Undo the changes or Restore an earlier version of the transaction if needed. Check the How to Undo Changes guide for more details.
