Sharing your data with your accountant

You can give your accountant access to your crypto transactions and tax reports in Crypto Tax Calculator (CTC) if you need tax advice or want them to review your activity.

To share your data, your accountant must first invite you to connect. If they don’t already have a CTC account, they can sign up for a free Accountant account and send you an invitation through their Accountant Portal.

Once you accept the invitation, your accountant will be able to view and edit your data, help with categorisation, and assist with generating your tax reports.

What you can do

If you'd like your accountant to help with your crypto tax reports in CTC:

  1. Let your accountant know you're using Crypto Tax Calculator and share this link with them: https://app.cryptotaxcalculator.io/signup-accountant/
This is where they can sign up for a free Accountant account.

  2. Ask them to invite you following this guide.

  3. Once they send the invite, you’ll receive an email with a link to accept it or an in-app notification to share your data with your accountant.

What happens after you accept the invite?

Once you accept the invite:

  • Your accountant can view and edit all your crypto transactions and reports.

  • They can help categorize transactions, adjust tax settings, and prepare your crypto tax reports.

  • You can revoke your accountant's access anytime by going to Settings -> Permissions

  • For more information about sharing data with your accountant, check this guide.

Need help getting your accountant on board?

If your accountant hasn’t used Crypto Tax Calculator before, feel free to send them this guide collection for accountants, which explains how to get started and use the accountant portal.

Why you might consider sharing data with your accountant

CTC is designed to help you manage and generate your own crypto tax reports. However, there are situations where involving a tax professional can be beneficial. You may want your accountant to review your data if:

  • Your crypto activity feels overwhelming, even with the tools and resources available in CTC.

  • You’re unsure about the tax implications of your crypto transactions and need professional tax advice.

  • You have a complex or uncommon tax scenario — for example, dealing with exchange bankruptcies or recovered funds.

  • You want a tax professional to review your transaction history to ensure your tax liability is calculated and interpreted correctly.

Getting support from an accountant can provide peace of mind, especially when navigating complex or high-volume crypto activity. CTC also has partner accountants in different tax jurisdictions that can help you. Hit us up for more information. 😀
