After September 8, 2022, all Demo Accounts will be retired. Any Demo Account information will be moved to the Settings page, where you can restore any previously imported transactions to a new client account.
Note: Only the admin accountant has access to the Demo account can proceed. Team members cannot perform this migration.
What is the Demo Account, and why is it being migrated?
A Demo account was the first and default account of an accountant when on the Accountant plan.
The Demo account has been confusing for our users as it stored the accountant's contact email and associated accountant settings. Many accountants would add client data into the demo and then found the process complex to generate a tax report. This generated support queries and much client confusion. In addition, new accountants can now add free clients to their accounting portal, import data, and reconcile transactions without a paywall. This ability to add free accounts has resulted in little need for a demo account.
What do I need to do ?
If you have data in your Demo account and would like to migrate it, please follow the steps below, so you don’t lose your Demo account data once we deprecate the Demo account feature.
If your Demo account is paid for (i.e., you can generate reports on your Demo account), you will still be able to generate the report after the data migration, and this migrated account will take up one slot of your accountant package as the Demo account did before migration.
If your Demo account is NOT paid for (i.e., you can NOT generate reports on your Demo account), you will not be able to generate reports on the migrated account until you upgrade the plan.
Note: Migrating Demo Account will not cause any billing difference.
How to migrate the data from Demo Account?
On your My Clients page, click ‘Migrate demo account’.
