Some transactions don’t tell the full story when viewed in isolation. Filters like account, date, or category can hide the surrounding activity and make it harder to see what else was happening at the time.
View in Context helps by placing the transaction back into your complete chronological timeline. It shows what came before and after it across all your wallets and exchanges, so you can follow the flow of activity and get a clearer picture of what’s going on.
Why Use the ‘View in Context’ Feature
Use View in Context when you need to see how a transaction fits into the bigger picture. It’s especially helpful when:
A deposit or token appears unexpectedly and you want to trace where it came from
A trade or approval looks out of place and you want to understand what led up to it
You’re reviewing a multi-step process like bridging, staking, or contract interactions
You want to cross-reference wallet activity within the same timeframe
Or you simply want to see the transaction in its full chronological timeline, alongside what happened before and after
How ‘View in Context’ Works
When you click View in Context on a transaction, a new tab shows your full transaction list. It automatically scrolls to where that transaction sits chronologically in your timeline.
Here’s what you’ll see in this view:
Show all surrounding transactions | Displays transactions that occurred around the same time, across all wallets and exchanges—not just the ones included in your original filter. |
Filters are cleared | Your filters are removed so you can view the full, unfiltered transaction history. |
‘Hide ignored/spam transactions’ setting respected | Ignored or spam transactions will stay hidden unless you’ve turned off the toggle in your View menu. |
How to Use ‘View in Context’
You can use View in Context from two places:
The Transactions page
The ‘Categorize transactions’ section of the Review page (🔒for paid plans only)
Steps
Find the transaction you want to explore, either from the Transactions page or the Categorize transactions section of the Review page.
Click the three dots on the right side of the transaction row.
Select “View in context” from the menu. This will take you to your full transaction list and automatically scroll to that transaction’s exact position.
Example
Let’s say you filtered your transactions to view a specific trade on October 30, 2021, and clicked “View in context”:
A new tab opens showing your full transaction list. It jumps to page 16 and scrolls directly to that trade’s exact spot in the timeline. The transaction is highlighted, and you’ll see the transactions that were happening around it, like other trades and income from October 28–30, 2021.
This gives you the surrounding context to better understand how that transaction fits into your overall activity.
Tip: If a transaction seems confusing or out of place, try View in Context. It’s the fastest way to see what else was happening around that time in chronological order and understand the flow.
