Refer-a-Friend Program
Our Refer-a-Friend Program is a great way to share Crypto Tax Calculator with your friends and get rewarded. Whether you want to refer a friend (as a referrer) or sign up for a first-year discount by being referred (as a referee), here’s everything you need to know!
Who can participate?
All Crypto Tax Calculator users (free or paid) can participate in the program, with the exception of:
Users in India, South Africa and Japan (due to currency management challenges).
Firms & users with an accountant portal
Including clients of accountants
Refer your friend
You can refer a friend as long as you have a CTC account. Follow the steps below to get the reward!
Log in to your Crypto Tax Calculator account here
If you don’t have an existing account, you can sign up for one.
On the left-hand sidebar, click on the tab Refer & earn $100
3. Copy and send your unique referral link to share with your friends or share on social media.
How is the Refer-a-Friend reward tracked?
When your friend (referee) signs up using your (referrer's) link, they receive 20% off their first-year subscription.
Once the referee completes their purchase, the referer will earn $100 cash or 100% of their actual spend, whichever is lower.
A referer can track your referrals and payout on the ‘Refer and earn $100’ page.
What rewards do I get as a referrer?
Every user who signs up to CTC and purchases a plan for the first time using your unique referral link will receive $100 cash or the full amount the referee pays for their plan, whichever is lower.
NOTE: Rewards apply only to your friends' first-year sign-ups (i.e., you won’t earn rewards on their subscription renewals).
Example 1
You refer a friend who purchases the Hobbyist plan for $99 USD.
With the 20% discount, they pay $79.20 USD.
As the referrer, you receive the lower of either $100 cash or your friend's actual spend.
In this case, you receive $79.20 USD.

Example 2
You refer a friend who purchases the Investor plan for $249 USD.
With the 20% discount, they pay $199.20 USD.
Since the referral reward is capped at $100 per referral, you receive $100 USD.

How are rewards paid out?
Rewards are issued in the local currency of the referrer. For example:
If Aussie Alan refers British Bruce, then:
Aussie Alan earns $100 AUD (assuming British Bruce’s spend is over $100 AUD equivalent).
Meanwhile, Bruce will receive the 20% off discount in GBP (on his first-year subscription).
Payments will be distributed through PayPal 60 days after the month ends in which they subscribed to a plan. To qualify, your friend must sign up using your personal referral link.
Once the 60 days is up, you can ‘request payment’
It will then go for processing and be sent to your connected PayPal account 30 days after the request.
Self-referrals are ineligible to receive reward benefits.
What if the referee requests a refund?
If a referred friend requests a refund, any referral rewards earned from that transaction will be deducted from your reward balance. This ensures that rewards are only issued for subscribers who have held a paid plan for over 60 days.
How can I change my payout details?
Simply navigate to the ‘refer-a-friend’ page, and click ‘Change PayPal’ in the bottom right corner.
Referred by a Friend
To be eligible for the refer-a-friend reward as a new user, you (referee) must sign up using your friend’s unique referral link.
This is the only way for both you and your friend to qualify for the reward.
What does the referee get?
Every referred user will receive a 20% discount on their first-year Crypto Tax Calculator subscription when they sign up using your unique referral link.
What happened to the old referral program?
The previous program (Give $40, Get $40 in credit toward your subscription) is no longer available, in favour of the new program which provides you a greater benefit for referring your friends.
What does this mean for you?
While the program is no longer available, any of the outstanding rewards you are owed will be honoured.
If you have outstanding credits, they will remain on your account and the credit will be deducted from your account in your next subscription payment.
Going forward, any new users you refer will earn you rewards based on the new referral program.
Your referral link will remain the same.
NOTE: As per the terms of the previous program, you cannot exchange your referral credit from the previous program for cash.

FAQ
Q: Why didn’t we get the referral reward and discount after my friend clicked my link?
For the referral to apply, your friend must sign up for their CTC account using your referral link.
If they already have an account and then click the link, it won’t register as a referral, meaning neither of you will receive the reward or discount.
If they want to use your referral, they’ll need to create a new account using your referral link during sign-up.
Q: My friend signed up before I sent them my referral link. Can we still apply the referral discount and reward?
Referral links only apply to new accounts created via the referral link.
If your friend already has an account, the system can’t apply the referral automatically or retroactively.
Here’s what they can do instead:
Log out of their current account, or open an incognito/private browser.
Use your referral link to sign up for a new account.
Their new account will receive the referral discount, and your reward will be recorded once they subscribe.
Q: What if my friend wants to use the same email to sign up with the referral link?
One email is tied to one CTC account. The same email can’t be reused for a new account.
As a workaround:
In their current account, go to Settings → Account.
Change the email address to a different one (for example, add “+old” or “.backup” to the existing email).
Then, sign up for a new account using the original email and your referral link.
Note: Deleting an account doesn’t take effect immediately. There’s a 7-day grace period before the deletion is completed. This helps prevent accidental deletions.
Terms & conditions
For every user that signs up to CTC and purchases a plan for the first time using your unique referral link, you'll receive $100 cash or the full amount the referred individual pays for their plan, whichever is lower. Payments will be distributed through PayPal 60 days after the month ends in which they subscribed to a plan. The final amount received may vary if currency fluctuations occur between earning the reward and receiving the payout. To qualify, referred users must sign up using your personal referral link. Self-referrals are ineligible to receive reward benefits.
